SGC delivered civil engineering, survey engineering and electrical engineering servives to SunEdison's Oakfield Wind Power Project.

The Oakfield Wind Power Project was originally planned to include 34 GE 1.5 MW wind turbines. SGC provided lead civil engineering services for this project overseeing the construction access road design, design of the operations and maintenance building, design layouts for the proposed substation and concrete turbine pads, and engineering for storm water management. SGC acted as the lead for electrical engineering, conducting complete facilities design; electrical collector line design; ISO interconnection coordination; and electrical design for the proposed substation expansion. SGC also acted as the lead in survey engineering efforts including mapping, layouts, and ALTA surveys to support land acquisitions. This project is in the permitting process.
The Town of Oakfield was surveyed in 1858 and SGC surveyors were able to obtain original survey field notes, allowing us to determine ancient boundary line locations for an area encompassing over 5,600 acres. They supported efforts by the developer to obtain easements and leases for eventual development of the project, as well as ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys for project financing.
SGC was the primary electrical engineering consultant for the development and permitting of the 148MW project which consists of forty eight (48)Vestas V1123.075 MW Wind Turbine Generators (WTG’s) mounted on 84m towers. SGC provided the construction design for the 34.5 kVcombined underground and overhead collector. SGC designed the 115kV, 59 mile transmission line to the Bangor Hydro 345kV Chester Substation. SGC designed the upgrade to the Emera Keene Road 115:345 kV Substation as the point of interconnect for the project.
