Paving the way for First Wind's Rollins Wind.

Overview

The Rollins Wind Project consists of 40 turbines in two arrays connected by a 34.5 kV electrical collector system. The power is delivered to the ISO grid in Chester, Maine via a 9-mile stretch of 115 kV transmission line tapping into the 38-mile Stetson Line 56.

 

How we helped

SGC provided the permit and final construction designs for the 115 kV transmission line, the 7.1 miles of 34.5 kV line for the electric collector system and a substation to transform the 34.5 kV to 115 kV for transmission. Additionally, SGC performed land acquisition for the turbine locations, collector system and transmission corridor right-of-way.

Throughout the process, SGC provided detailed land surveys for determining appropriate location of transmission and connector corridors linking the Rollins Wind development to the 38 mile transmission corridor. When completed the surveys covered an area totaling 11,000 acres in 5 townships, providing critical information in support of the design of the electrical systems and location right of way easements. ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys were completed of all facilities in support of the developer’s successful efforts to obtain financing for the construction of the transmission line and project areas.
