Singapore Maritime Week: Lloyd’s List Business Briefing.

Key details

26 Apr 2018

About the event

The Lloyd’s List Business Briefings bring together industry thought-leaders from across the maritime community in market leading panel debates to reflect, discuss, and analyse the trends, challenges and opportunities facing the industry today and in coming years.

The Lloyd’s List Business Briefing at Singapore’s Maritime Week is focused on 'The Three Elements of Efficiency – Technology, Regulation & Human Element'

The emphasis is on using new technologies not only to reduce emissions by 10% or 20% but also to forge a closer link between shipping and the broader supply chain. While digitalisation will undoubtedly change the game over the next decade, it’s not the only element in the maritime mix.

The regulatory environment is playing an increasingly significant role in the way ships are operated, so much so that the debates in IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee are now followed closely by all sectors of the business. Meanwhile, the shortage of skilled and experienced seafarers has become a headache for crew managers all over the world.

Maritime efficiency in the 2020s won’t just be about the element of digital disruption; the elements of regulation and human resources must not be overlooked.

The Lloyd’s List Business briefing at Singapore’s prestigious Maritime Week focuses on each of these elements in turn, with panel speakers setting the scene, discussing the likely developments, and setting out a more efficient maritime future. A final session addresses how the three elements can work more closely to create a maritime sector that is a vital part of the logistics supply chain, and together promote a much more efficient business than each of the elements could achieve on their own.

LR's Ravi Jeeva, VP of Technology and Innovation, Singapore, will be a speaker in the technology panel at the briefing.
