Thomas Thune Andersen

Chairmen

Thomas is the Chairman of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation and Chairman of Lloyd’s Register Group Limited. He is a member of the Foundation’s Nominations Committee and the Lloyd’s Register Group Limited Remuneration Committee.

Thomas, a former member of the executive Board of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group with more than 30 years tenure in its maritime and energy sectors, was appointed to the Board in July 2012.

Thomas is Chairman of Ørsted A/S and of VKR Holding A/S, the Senior Independent Director of IMI plc and and a Non-Executive Director of BW Group Limited. He is a member of the World Economic Forum Chairmen’s Council, Friends of Ocean Action and the Danish Committee on corporate governance.

Chakib Abi-Saab

Chief Technology & Innovation Officer, Lloyd’s Register

Chakib Abi-Saab was appointed Chief Technology & Innovation Officer in July 2022.

Chakib is a global leader in process automation, logistics and transportation. His technical strength is in choosing, adopting, rolling out, and measuring the impact of new technologies to increase productivity, accelerate collaboration, and create new revenue streams. Previously, Chakib worked as a Group Chief Technology Officer at Bahri, the national shipping company of Saudi Arabia, OSM Maritime Group in Singapore, and Bumi Armada Berhad in Malaysia. He has successfully identified new technology trends, created effective administrative policies, and developed ways to communicate technology needs for global organizations.

Additionally, Chakib is currently a member of the Technology Advisory Panel at the Singapore Maritime Institute, as well as an advisor for the Motion Ventures initiative, also in Singapore.

Discovering, understanding, and explaining new and future trends of technology and what it means for business processes are the key focus areas of Chakib. He functions as a key technology capability enabler for businesses and resulting transformation for the IT Maritime and Oil and Gas industries. His varied interests also transcend to Communication Technologies, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), and Drone Technologies.

Chakib holds a Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in International Business from Letourneau University, in Texas, USA.
