Changing weather patterns, a rapidly expanding global population and polluted oceans act as pressing reminders that we must find sustainable, efficient and clean industry solutions. LR’s expertise across safety, security and sustainability, combined with the work of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, are leveraged to make a positive impact to society within a business model for the 21st century.
In LR’s 2017/18 report find out the key areas where LR is helping to create a sustainable future as well as how we deliver our sustainability aspirations through five pillars central to our purpose of providing benefits to clients and communities, and operating a responsible business that is supported by a productive, diverse and healthy workforce. LR became a signatory of the UN Global Compact and a founding member of the UN’s Sustainable Oceans Action programme in 2018.
The three-year programme convenes leaders in ocean industry along with the UN, world governments, academia and civil society. As an organisation involved in setting standards for the shipping sector for over 250 years, LR has an important role to play in ensuring the programme is realised.
