ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management

Prepare for the unexpected.

If the worst happens, an ISO 22301 BCM system can help you to recover quickly and demonstrate your resilience to key stakeholders.

Overview

Business continuity is a process that helps organisations plan for the unexpected and better manage risks and protect assets. This means having plans in place to resume ‘business as usual’ as quickly as needed in the event of an incident, from loss of IT, people or telecommunications right through to terrorist activity, extreme weather or a pandemic.

Understanding business continuity management (BCM) is increasingly important as more organisations realise how dependent they are on ever more complex and extended supply chains. ISO 22301 - Societal security - Business continuity management systems (BCMS), is an auditable standard that is applicable to organisations of all sizes, sectors and types.

Using industry best practice guide as a foundation, the standard helps you to understand, develop and implement a structured BCMS that will help minimise risk and therefore the chance of disruption to your organisation. Certification enables you to demonstrate compliance and give your stakeholders confidence that your organisation could recover quickly and continue to deliver the service required in the event of serious disruption.

International standards are typically reviewed every 5 years to ensure they remain relevant and meet the challenges of the time. ISO 22301:2012 is currently being reviewed and ISO/NP 22301 is under development by the ISO technical committee for security and resilience, ISO/TC 292.

What we offer

Business continuity management system gap analysis
You have the option to conduct a gap analysis before certification, during which an assessor will work with you to focus on a critical, high risk or weak area of your system. We will work with you to determine the scope of your gap analysis to give you the flexibility to focus on the most important areas for your organisation.

ISO 22301 certification
Certification is typically a two-stage process that takes into account the design and implementation of your system. Our approach extends the focus beyond the certificate to an assessment approach designed to help you meet your strategic objectives.

Integrated management system assessment
Organisations with multiple management systems, such as quality, environmental, occupational health and safety, BCM and information security management, can benefit from a coordinated assessment and surveillance programme, reducing duplication and cost.

BCM training
Our range of training services helps organisations and practitioners at every stage of their BCM implementation and management – whether you are just starting out or if you want to gain a formal qualification, LR has a course to meet your learning objectives.

What are the benefits?

Limit disruption and protect your brand with ISO 22301 BCM certification.
Embedding a BCMS within your organisation will help you to identify and mitigate risks - reducing the risk of an incident before it even happens.

When disruptions do happen, you will be better placed to respond quickly and confidently to put contingencies in place; to ensure your people can work safely and effectively to maintain service to your customers. This will give your stakeholders confidence in your organisation, making you a trusted partner, and creating a competitive advantage to win tenders.
