Outside of the Olympics the World Championships is the most prestigious and coveted title to hold and David dominated the 2013 event by winning the gold in the C1 on the 14th and then again in the C2 on the 15th September.
Since his silver medal at the 2012 Olympics David has performed well and competed in all of the World Cup events as well as the European Championships in 2013. He is widely considered amongst his peers as one of the most consistent performers in the sport which is a key factor in his recent success. David's ambition to be world class in two different canoe classes is being realised through his commitment and dedication to training.
Speaking to us on Monday David commented: "I am still in a little shock to be honest. I have been training for that World Championship title for 15 years but to win it twice in one weekend is what you dream of. Thank you to everyone at Lloyd's Register who have been supporting me".
