Biography

Charlie McKinlay is a specialist in future energy systems for ships, with a particular focus on future fuels and fuel cell technology.  Charlie holds a degree in Mathematics, a masters in Energy Engineering, and undertook a training year in Energy Storage and its Applications.

Charlie's knowledge and expertise in energy storage led him to focus his research on zero-emission shipping solutions. He recently submitted his PhD on "Dynamic Energy System Modelling to Assess Viable Zero-Emission Shipping Solutions," which explores ways to make shipping more environmentally friendly through innovative energy systems and fuels.

Charlie has authored several academic papers on the subject, including "Route to zero emission shipping: hydrogen, ammonia or methanol?" published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy. His research has provided insights into the viability of various zero-emission fuel options and their potential to transform the shipping industry.

Charlie is a passionate advocate for sustainability and is committed to using his expertise to make a positive impact on the environment and the shipping industry.
