RiskSpectrum Technical information.

Overview

The RiskSpectrum suite offers the complete software solution for modelling, quantifying and monitoring risk and reliability. Operators in safety-critical industries from nuclear to oil and gas trust it to assure safety and prove regulatory compliance.

RiskSpectrum's applications help you verify technical specifications, plan process operations, quantify reliability and inform ongoing risk-assessed facility operation. Most regulatory bodies are familiar with RiskSpectrum and have validated its calculation algorithms.

From documentation and quality assurance to responsible supervision, RiskSpectrum provides the peace of mind that allows you to run your business efficiently and with confidence.

RiskSpectrum software runs on MS Windows and is compatible with Windows 7 and 10.

Overview

A risk and reliability analysis builds on a foundation of several analyses. The RiskSpectrum suite of software tools supports and documents every one of them, from human reliability analysis to fault and event trees. It harnesses the power of those models to monitor and report on operations, supporting every decision with a robust risk assessment.

Consistent data and processes across the RiskSpectrum software tools let you transfer results seamlessly from one software application to another. That boosts productivity, helping you rapidly – but safely – finalise your analysis. Quality assurance and documentation are also uniform across the tools, meaning you can easily log, trace and audit changes.

RiskSpectrum's model standardisation and data integration supports risk assessments that are reliable, manageable and transparent. That cross-software integration also improves data quality and reduces updating and maintenance costs.

All software within the RiskSpectrum suite can be installed and run separately or in combination.

  • RiskSpectrum PSA

RiskSpectrum PSA delivers blue-chip fault tree and linked event tree modelling and analysis capabilities. It's considered the nuclear industry standard in many countries, licensed for use by over 60% of commercial operators.

RiskSpectrum PSA helps you deliver every part of your PSA (Probabilistic Safety/Risk Assessment) and QRA (Quantative Risk Assessment) model. In particular, it satisfies the nuclear industry's requirements for PSA Level 1 and level 2.

Via its intuitive user interface, RiskSpectrum PSA can model everything from the basic fault tree with AND and OR gates, right through to advanced fault tree and event tree integration of sequences in linked event trees with boundary conditions and CCF events. It is designed with special features to cover internal, area (fire and flooding) and external events like seismic shocks.

The integrated RSAT analysis tool is specially designed for solving large PSA models and offers MCS (Minimal Cut Set), BDD, sensitivity, importance and time-dependent analysis. RiskSpectrum PSA also includes:

    • RiskSpectrum MCS editor
    • Advanced post processing functionality
    • Cutset tracing tool
  • RiskSpectrum HRA

With RiskSpectrum HRA, you can run consistent Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) to produce high quality, repeatable results with solid traceability and documentation.

Guiding you step by step, RiskSpectrum HRA helps you standardise your process for quantifying and reviewing human error probabilities for your defined human failure events. It offers multiple well-known methods for quantifying probabilities, such as:

    • THERP
    • ASEP
    • HCR/ORE
    • SPAR-H
    • HEART

Compare different results from different methods. Define screening values and assign them to selected pre-initiating, post-initiating and human failure events. Comply with ASME PSA Standard and NRC HRA Good Practices requirements.

RiskSpectrum HRA automatically documents all the important assumptions, conditions, inputs, methods and results, with clear reports available immediately. Three pre-defined report templates present your events and results, with one-click export to Excel and RiskSpectrum PSA.

  • RiskSpectrum FMEA

RiskSpectrum FMEA maps structures, systems and components along with their failure modes and failure effects. This FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) software delivers the perfect relationally-structured environment for managing risk data, tracking, quality control and reporting.

Enter, quality check and analyse the input to fault tree models. Note and scrutinise failures, modelling assumptions – and every other part of the FMEA process.

You can effectively document components and systems and their safety functions for different applications. RiskSpectrum FMEA automatically generates basic events with reliability parameters that you can import directly into RiskSpectrum PSA's fault tree models.

    • Identify components with unique IDs linked to data like test interval and mission time
    • Store failure data for each component type: probability, failure intensity and frequency
    • Create FMEA records for each component with structured lists of failure modes, failure effects and reliability models
  • RiskSpectrum RiskWatcher

RiskSpectrum RiskWatcher delivers real-time risk intelligence to inform vital operational decisions. Optimised to work with PSA models created in RiskSpectrum PSA, it helps assess and manage risk exposure at vital assets like nuclear power stations and offshore drilling rigs.

Monitor risk level minute by minute. Simulate different scenarios. Take account of risk in planning nuclear plant outages. Customised to each installation, RiskSpectrum RiskWatcher determines instantaneous risk and safety equipment availability based on the actual configuration and status of plant systems and components.

    • Assess critical system reliability level or safety integrity level

    • Rigorously risk-justify and optimise maintenance during operation
    • Calculate risk importance for in- and out-of-service components

With RiskSpectrum RiskWatcher, you can understand the potential frequency of undesired consequences like core melt or number of fatalities. Colour-coded alerts display safety system availability level. With time-dependent reliability data included in its calculations, you can see the effect different test intervals have on risk.

RiskSpectrum RiskWatcher can monitor risk across entire installations and for one or more crucial sub-assemblies – like the blow-out preventers used to safeguard oil and gas drilling operations. Its quantitative and qualitative results bring true insight to operational safety management.

  • RiskSpectrum DOC

RiskSpectrum DOC stores, maintains and reports on your risk and reliability analysis documentation. Its database holds all Fault Tree and Event Tree model documents in a structured, searchable and traceable form.

Direct links to RiskSpectrum PSA keep the documentation in RiskSpectrum DOC updated and aligned with the data in the RiskSpectrum PSA's Fault Tree and Event Tree model database. When a PSA model changes, RiskSpectrum DOC makes it simple to update records or to find all documents related to a certain item in the model. Systematic use of references, keywords and links between documents further improve traceability.

RiskSpectrum DOC can also rapidly report on and visualise data directly from the RiskSpectrum PSA model database. With a unique range of tables and diagrams on offer, its automation cuts out long hours of manual preparation.

    • Data Tables
    • MCS Tables
    • Importance Tables
