The purpose of this document is to provide guidance relating to the best practices for carrying out gas dispersion and explosion analyses and information to be submitted for the classification of ships using gases or low-flashpoint fuels, the so called alternative fuels.

The philosophy of the document is to provide Lloyd’s Register’s criteria and inform the wider marine industry to enable a consistent and common approach on the use of gas dispersion and explosion analyses as part of the design concept, engineering and risk assessments processes, to inform design and mitigation measures for the design and operation of the ship.
