Please be advised that LR has suspended operations in Ukraine. Please access our Port Finder function to identify alternative locations whereby services may be arranged as necessary, or alternatively consider Remote Surveys.


This global service is to connect you with our surveyors outside normal business hours to assist you with the following emergency scenarios:

  • Time-dependent e.g. surveys to secure charter requirements, surveyor assistance to clear port entry requirements imposed on arrival;
  • Safety-related e.g. damages or statutory issues requiring immediate assistance before the vessel can continue operating; 
  • PSC related e.g. requires immediate attendance before the vessel can continue service. 

For urgent requests inside office hours, or for requests that do not meet these criteria please contact your local office or make a request through ClassDirect.

  • Vessel information (IMO number / name / Company)

  • What is the definition of an Urgent Survey Request?

    When urgent assistance for a vessel is needed outside of normal working hours for the following scenarios:

    • Time-dependent e.g. surveys to secure charter requirements, surveyor assistance to clear port entry requirements imposed on arrival;
    • Safety related e.g. damages or statutory issues requiring immediate assistance before vessel can continue operating;
    • Port state control (PSC) related e.g. requires immediate attendance before the vessel can continue service.
  • What do I do if my request is in normal business hours?

    Please submit your request via LR Class Direct or contact your local office to request a survey.

  • Will there be a technical expert answering this call?

    The person answering your call will not be a technical expert, their role is to identify where our vessel is located, the category of your request and then direct to the most appropriate technical team to arrange attendance.

  • How soon will I be able to speak to a technical expert at LR?

    Once we have collected the required details you will receive a call back within 30 minutes from an LR technical expert.

  • What information will I need to provide?

    You will be requested to provide the following information:

    • Vessel information (IMO number / name / Company)
    • Your contact details
    • Vessel's contact details
    • Port details
    • Nature of urgency
