Lloyd's Register's Rules and Regulations set appropriate standards for the design, construction and lifetime maintenance of ships, offshore units and land-based installations - providing all the information you need for classification purposes. To keep pace with changes in technology, market trends and new legislation, Lloyd's Register is dedicated to an on-going programme of research and development to enhance existing technical standards and publish new Rules.
How do I access the Rules?
The best way to access all LR's Rules in a single place is directly through Rulefinder. But you can download the individual Rules from the specific subject page links below, available in PDF format.
Copies of our historic Rule sets can be downloaded directly from our webstore, www.webstore.lr.org. Prior to downloading the files, you will need to register an account. To do this, click on the Register button at the top right hand corner of the homepage and fill in the information required. Once your account is set up and activated you will be able to download the files you need.
The historic Rulesets can be found in the Archive material category on the left hand side of the homepage.
Please note from 1 July 2019 we have upgraded the majority of our Provisional Rules to full Rulesets, as such they have been merged into the main list of Rules below.
