Plastic waste entering our oceans is set to triple by 2040 – the equivalent of 50kg for every metre of coastline in the world.
Governments around the globe are responding to the problem in a variety of ways – banning single-use plastic, introducing plastic taxes and upping local recycling initiatives. Yet according to a recent report by The Pew Charitable Trusts and Systemiq, in collaboration with Oxford and Leeds Universities and a panel of 17 world experts, more needs to be done to turn the tide on plastic waste.
Working towards the Responsible Plastic Mechanism (RPM) Standard is one way organizations of all shapes and sizes, across many different sectors, can play their part in tackling this global – and ever growing – issue.
During this webinar, RPM, Kimberly Coffin and a speaker from a business committed to tackling plastic waste (TBC) will discuss:
- The issue of plastic waste – how we reached the situation we find ourselves in today
- What’s been done to date – and why we need to do more
- RPM – an overview – why it was launched, how, and why it works
- Benefits of the RPM Standard
- How the process works
- Next steps
