This document gives guidance for establishing a procedure that can be applied to demonstrate compliance with these requirements. For yachts, classification is concerned only with the hull and machinery of the vessel. The hull scantlings and arrangements, including attachment points for stays and mast supports of sailing yachts, are examined and approved in association with the loads from masts and rigging as specified by the builder. The masts, spars and standing rigging are beyond the scope of classification. However, the Large Commercial Yacht Code, LY3, paragraph 4.5.2, gives requirements for masts, spars and standing rigging on sailing vessels.
