This document presents a certification scheme for prototype certifications of floating offshore wind turbines. Currently, many floating wind turbine developers need to deploy a demonstration unit to showcase their technology before it can be considered for use in a full-scale offshore wind farm.

This RP presents a flexible certification process that gives technology developers the third-party approval they need to assess and continue developing their prototype floating wind turbine in FEED, detail design or EPIC phase. The certification scheme contributes to mitigate the risks which could result in collision, sinking, or loss of power generation.
