Lloyd’s Register (LR) has extended the closing date for its Yacht Safety Culture and Wellbeing Survey, giving more seafarers the opportunity to share vital insights into safety and welfare standards across the global yachting industry.
Originally scheduled to close on 30 June, the survey will now remain open until 30 September in response to high demand. Yacht crew and management from all departments and levels are encouraged to participate, with confidentiality and anonymity for all respondents.
The initiative, launched in April 2025, is part of LR’s commitment to enhance safety standards, reduce incidents and embed wellbeing at the heart of yacht operations. The 30-minute survey collects anonymised data on safety practices, incident reporting, crew health and wellbeing, and operational culture from personnel across all departments and levels of the yachting sector.
The data will offer invaluable insights into safety practices across the global yachting fleet, identifying patterns, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. The findings are expected to influence future safety standards and best practices throughout the sector.
Engel Jan de Boer, LR’s Global Yacht Segment Director, said: “We’ve been encouraged by the response so far, but it’s clear the industry wants more time to contribute. This survey is an opportunity for crew to be heard, and for decision-makers to act on real-world experience.”
