LR is currently involved with the refit of a 77m ice class tug named Legend, built in 1974, into a luxury passenger yacht. She will be the first ever ice-breaking superyacht in the world.

Legend was originally built to the highest specifications by the IHC Holland shipyard. She is a fully classified polar code ice-breaking ship and will be converted into a charter yacht without losing her safety and strength as an icebreaker.

Legend has 2x 3400 HP SMIT BOLLNES engines driving a single 3.7m propeller providing for a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots. Delivery is expected in the summer.

Alongside the completion of the technical and system upgrades of this magnificent ice-breaker the shipyard will perform an extensive modification of her stern structure including the installation of a commercially certified helicopter landing pad, a swimming pool and the integration of a submarine garage into the forward deck structure. Legend will be used for adventurous charters for around 26 guests in the remote areas of the world, such as Antarctica, Greenland and the North Pole.
