About the training
This two or three-day interactive course is a must for all those responsible for safety, whether they are based on land or at sea. It shows them how to carry out operational risk assessments and incident investigations based on methodologies used by the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG). Risk assessment and risk management are terms quite often heard within the shipping industry but not everyone has a clear idea of exactly what is involved

Course objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the terms ‘Risk Management’, ‘Risk Assessment’ and ‘Incident Investigation’; the objectives, the process, and the steps to be followed
- Explain the difference between a prescriptive approach and a risk-based approach for Safety Risk Management and be aware of their advantages and challenges
- Carry out and review operational risk assessments, incident investigations and implement corrective action proposals.
