Overview

This course will give you a range of practical advice on planning and preparing for ship surveys, and what actions you need to take during the process.

Who will benefit?

This course would be ideally suited to superintendents, ship officers and other marine personnel involved in the preparation for and execution of ship surveys.

Through the highly participative use of group and individual exercises based on Lloyd's Register’s experience, delegates will learn about survey planning, preparation and the actions required during a survey.

What will you learn?

Preparing for a survey

This includes scheduling the survey within the survey window, ensuring an adequate lead in time for the local office and that all necessary documents etc. are held onboard.

During the survey

Ensuring that during the survey all relevant personnel:

  • are available 
  • are aware of the key survey areas 

  • know how to deal with questions

After the survey

Learning what actions are to be taken if something goes wrong.

By the end of this course delegates will be able to:

  • Schedule, plan and prepare for a survey. 

  • Interpret survey requirements. 

  • Recognise what can and cannot be done within the Rules of Classification and Statutory Regulations. 

  • Identify Port State Control issues and the consequences of ship detention.
