Background and challenge
Andriaki Shipping is a Greece-based tanker shipping company managing a fleet of vessels operating in international markets. Prior to engaging with LR Advisory, Andriaki had not published a sustainability report or established an ESG framework, and performance metrics were inconsistent across its operations and corporate functions, with no clear definitions, ownership or standards alignment. Stakeholder expectations for transparent disclosures were increasing, and Andriaki needed to understand not just what it was currently sharing, but what was missing and how to close that gap. The goal was to produce a credible first ESG report and establish a clear baseline for future cycles.
Solution
LR Advisory was engaged to produce an ESG report for Andriaki, alongside an improvement roadmap to give the organisation a clear view of where it stood and a foundation that could be built on year on year.
Approach taken
LR Advisory began with benchmarking against sustainability practices across the shipping sector, followed by stakeholder identification and consultation. A materiality assessment was then conducted, tailored to maritime operations and mapped against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Metrics were collected and organised across operational and corporate functions, with the report developed and aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) marine transportation standards.
A gap analysis was also conducted covering missing disclosures against GRI and these requirements, inconsistencies and policy and governance gaps. This produced actionable recommendations giving a clear picture of where Andriaki stood and what needed to change. The process drew together vessel, technical and corporate teams that had not previously collaborated on ESG disclosures.
Key client benefits
- Stronger performance data management, with improved availability across both fleets
- Internal teams better equipped to manage and scale disclosures in future cycles
- Better positioned to meet evolving regulatory requirements
- Strengthened positioning within the Greek and international shipping markets.
Project outcome
The report was successfully published and is publicly available, marking Andriaki among the first in the Greek tanker sectors to produce GRI and SASB-aligned sustainability disclosures.
Conclusion
LR Advisory enabled Andriaki to move from no ESG structure to a published sustainability report. LR Advisory’s ability to combine technical expertise with a practical understanding of Greek shipping operations made the process workable for teams without prior experience in this area.
Pairing report delivery with a gap analysis and roadmap ensured ESG became an ongoing capability rather than a one-off exercise.
