Applicability: All LR classed vessels
Lloyd’s Register is committed to supporting ship owners and operators avoid business disruption and additional costs incurred by detentions by Port State Control authorities.
During the next 12 months, whenever surveyors attend onboard a classed ship, they will be closely examining the following common items frequently listed as deficiencies to confirm they are being kept in an effective condition:
Fire Safety:
- Fire dampers
- Fire detection
- Doors within main vertical zone
Life Saving Appliances:
- Lifeboats
- Rescue boats
- Lifebuoys
Safety of navigation:
- Nautical publications
- Lights, shapes and sound signals
- Voyage/passage planning and ECDIS arrangements
Ensuring these items are suitably maintained, and remain in a fit and effective condition, reduces the potential for a ship being detained by the Port State Control authorities. In addition, it is imperative that ships are properly prepared for survey to avoid delays in carrying out examination of the above items.
