During the event, Lloyd’s Register signed four new Approval in Principles (AiPS) – two with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and two with HD Hyundai Mipo Co., Ltd (HMD).

The first with SHI is for their new generation 174,000 cbm Liquified Natural Gas Carrier and the second is a joint development project for an ammonia-fuelled 9,300 TEU container vessel. Under the agreements, SHI will carry out the design for the vessels and Lloyd’s Register will provide the review of SHI deliverables and technical advice for further design development.

The first HMD project is for a new 23,000cbm ammonia-fuelled ship design. The proposed vessel is 160m long, 25.5m wide and 16.7 m deep, with three type A cargo tanks and a forward deckhouse.  The second is for a 20,000 cbm LCO₂ carrier, following the successful completion of a joint development project between the parties. The vessel is notable for its optimised cargo tank arrangement, designed to enhance both technical and economic efficiency.
