Lloyd’s Register is a Certifying Authority for Small Commercial Vessels with a global network of surveyors and technical experts. We can actively support owners in the certification of vessels up to 24 metres to the latest UK Codes of Practice – the Workboat Code Edition 3 and the Sport or Pleasure Vessel Code.
Why choose LR?
We are authorised by the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency and are delegated to issue certification on behalf of a number of Red Ensign Group Flag States, including Jersey, and Cayman Islands.
What we offer
LR offers a unified and comprehensive service, covering both Classification and Coding of vessels, removing the need for owners to use a separate Classification Society and Certifying Authority.
For new construction vessels, LR can apply our Special Service Craft Rules to underpin the construction requirements of the Codes of Practice. Design or Plan Appraisal against these Rules will be conducted by LRs dedicated in-house Technical Support Office.
LR can offer access to technical expertise to help with the certification of complex and novel systems under the Workboat Code 3. This can include certification of Alternative Fuels and Propulsion Systems, such as battery, hybrid or full electric propulsion systems (Annex I) and Remotely Operated Unmanned Vessels (Annex II).
