Overview
This course covers all aspects of marine coatings inspection. All the course materials and assessments are online, allowing you to decide how and when you want to study. To complete the course successfully, you’ll need to work through all the core and specialist units and achieve a 100% pass in all the multiple-choice tests.
Completing this online course allows you to progress to a PR34, IMO, PSPC approved coating inspector qualification workshop with an independent organisation, leading to accreditation and approval under the requirements of MSC.215(82) and IACS UI SC223. Please contact us for details.

Course objectives
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Understand the basic principles of the protective coatings to allow a recruit entrance into the industry, training for an experienced person, and education to lead hands, engineers and assistants or third-party personnel.
- Identify the principals of the protective coatings’ application.
- Know how to prepare the surfaces using abrasive blast cleaning and implement the right operational procedures
- Apply basic paint application such as brush and roller application.
Understand the coating inspection and inspection equipment used.
