Shipbuilding Summary

Wuhu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was established in 1925 in Wuhu, Anhui Province. and acquired by Cherry Automobile Co., Ltd and renamed Wuhu Xinlian Shipbuilding Co., Ltd in 2008, before adopting its current name. Situated alongside the Yangtze River, it lies approximately 120 km from Nanjing.

The shipyard specialises in shipbuilding and repair services for smaller vessels, with a maximum building capacity of 30,000 DWT. The yard has also secured access to two dry docks at the former Rongsheng Shipyard, supporting ambitions to construct larger vessels including Newcastlemax bulk carriers and VLCCs.

Wuhu Shipyard’s Weihai Base is located in Weihai City. The company reopened the shipbuilding facilities at this site in 2023 and now focuses on the construction of PCTCs, MR and LR1 tankers, Kamsarmax and Ultramax bulk carriers, and chemical tankers.

The facility covers an area of approximately 820,000 square metres. It includes two building slipway berths, each measuring 400m by 36m, as well as a dry dock measuring 325m by 41.5m.

The yard also operates a floating dock measuring 220 by 37 metres, capable of accommodating vessels of up to 100,000 DWT, and an outfitting quay with a total length of 1,800 metres. The base has an annual shipbuilding capacity of
approximately 1 million DWT.
