Yangfan Group Co., Ltd., formerly known as Zhoushan Shipyard, was established in 1952 as a state-owned enterprise and has grown to become one of China’s leading
shipbuilding companies.
The Group comprises two major shipyards—Zhejiang East Coast Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Zhoushan Dashenzhou Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., sold in 2023, as well as one research and design institute and one marine outfitting company, Zhejiang Yangfan General Use Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

Zhejiang East Coast Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., located on Mayi Island in Zhoushan, is equipped with modern shipbuilding infrastructure. Its facilities include an automatic flat panel production line, four blasting workshops, eight painting workshops, a 500-metre-long dry dock, a 400-metre-long slipway, and an outfitting pier extending over 1,100 metres. It also houses two 600-tonne and four 150-tonne gantry cranes.
Zhoushan Dashenzhou Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., previously located on Panzhi Island in Zhoushan and sold in 2023, was equipped with a 310-metre-long dry dock, a 422-metrelong outfitting pier, two 400-tonne gantry cranes, and one 150-tonne gantry crane.
The Yangfan Ship Design & Research Institute (YFSJY) is recognised as a Provincial Key Enterprise Research Institute. It has the capability to perform full-cycle design activities including research and development, basic design, detailed design,
and production design. YFSJY employs a professional and experienced team of nearly 170 designers, including one national expert receiving a State Council special allowance and six senior engineers of professor level.
YFSJY has extensive design experience across major vessel types including container ships, bulk carriers, PCTCs, chemical tankers, and oil tankers. The institute ensures high standards in performance, quality, and cost efficiency during ship construction, employing advanced ship development and production software such as NAPA, Nauticus Hull, MSC Nastran, Compass, Tribon, Cadwin, and HDIM. YFSJY actively pursues transformation and upgrading in ship design technology.
