Mitsubishi Shipbuilding traces the company’s long-standing history back to 1884 with the founding of the Mitsubishi Mail Steamship Company Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works, coinciding with the dawn of Japan’s modernisation.

On 1 January 2018, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) restructured its shipbuilding operations, rebranding as Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Structure Co., Ltd. For over 130 years, the company responded to evolving global demands by constructing vessels tailored to the sectors of Maritime Logistics, Marine Resources, Ocean Leisure, and Maritime Safety. This has always been underpinned by a customer-first philosophy.
